Once in the life of Paulo and Lily Cruz
Lily has graduated the degree of Education in one of the prestigious university in their locality. After she failed to pass the board exam she decided to leave her home and find her luck in the Manila. There she meets Paulo a young marine engineer who was also hunting for a job. They felt in love and take their vows after 6 months of being lovers. Lily and Paulo lives together in a small room where they rent for a few bucks. They were happy in spite of hard financial conditions. One morning when Lily woke up, she felt like the house was tumbling down and she start vomiting. As they approach the doctor, he said “congratulations you’ll soon become new parents” That was the happiest day in their marriage life. They started wishing what is best for their coming child. Paulo works double time to save money for Lily’s delivery and for their coming baby.
The day they’ve waited for has come. Lily started to feel pain on her stomach. Paulo rushes her to the nearby hospital however it requires higher deposit and Paulo’s savings was not enough so they decided to go to the public hospital. After 24 hours of labor pain the baby came. Immediately Paulo approached the doctor on duty “how’s my wife?” the doctor answers him with a smile “she is in the recovery room right now, she delivers your baby normally and she‘s fine.” Paulo felt a sigh of relief after he heard that from the doctor.
Due to tiredness, Paulo fall asleep while sitting outside the room because he is not allowed to enter the recovery room. Someone tapped his shoulder, he suddenly open his eyes but he found nobody around. After a while he saw the doctor and nurses going in and out in the recovery room that seems to be very busy. One nurse called him “are you the husband of Lily Cruz?” He stands up and said “yes” the nurse replied sorry your wife pass away just a minute ago due to post- eclamsia “Paulo sit back to the chair without any words from his mouth while the tears start falling from his eyes. It was the saddest day in his marriage life.
