My first road accident
It was a bright sunny day when I woke up and thus a perfect day for bike riding. I got up at seven in the morning and got ready for my college in an hour. I very enthusiastically wished my mom and dad goodbye and took the stairs to get to the ground floor where my bike is parked. And there it was, my first motorcycle shining brightly in black. I had just cleaned and polished it yesterday so it was shining like new one although it was a year old. I just cleaned up the pecks of dust on it, put on my helmet and gloves and I was ready to go for my college.
The bright sun and dry roads were perfect for riding. I just stepped on the gas when I got clear road ahead and enjoyed the acceleration. It always feels good when you get to ride a motorcycle on a clear road. In not time I reached college. The ride was so good that day that I hardly faced any traffic jam. It was a normal day at college. I went for two lectures and then a lab. Then I decided to go back home earlier and left the last lecture of the day. I still had the vibes of the ride I enjoyed in the morning. I went to the parking area and in a minute I was ready for my ride back home.
It was still fairly sunny and peak time of traffic on roads had still not come. I started riding a little faster than usual topping at around eighty kilometers an hour. I was on the flyover which was the last after which I had to take a right turn to enter the colony I lived. There was a car in front of me. I was at a good seventy kms/hr and was riding just behind the rear right tyre of that car. Suddenly the car driver applied brakes as a pedestrian had come in front of his car. I in a rush applied the front disc brake on my bike heavily with the rear brake. As I was at a good speed and thus couldn’t stop the bike and bumped into the car. I was launched in the air and fell on the road after somersaulting in the air once. The bike just dragged under its momentum for about fifteen feet on the ground. I felt on my rucksack first and then tumbled over to bruise my palms while trying to protect myself of any further injuries.
For a minute I just had lost track of what was happening. Then I realized that I had escaped any major injury and my helmet had saved my head from getting bruised badly. I got up after a minute of laying down the road. The car driver was nowhere to be seen. Bystanders helped me get up and start my bike again. The bike had some scratches and bends on the footrests and the handlebar but was still working fine. I gathered courage and just drove slowly back to my home as it was half a kilometer away and thank god that it was nearby. My mom gave me first aid and went to doctor for a checkup. After that day I swore to god to always ride under the speed limit. Always wear a helmet while riding a bike, it can save your life.
